Whew! Just like that we are into our second week of school this year and it's going to be an exciting one! We have our Field Trip to Fort Calgary on Thursday- Thank you so much to all the parents who have volunteered to come with us! (We do have another field trip at the end of April to the National Music Centre so there is still time to get police clearance done if you would like to come on that one.)
Because we will be gone from the school on Thursday for most of the day the only time for students to buy popcorn for a toonie this month is Wednesday. Fun Lunch and Flex Friday will be on Friday. Students will go in their Flex group of students from Grade 1-4 and will have the opportunity to work with a different teacher in the school to learn diverse and interesting skills.
We have just started working on The Zones of Regulation to help us identify our emotions and find strategies or tools to get ourselves back on track when our emotions take over. Students have some great background knowledge from the Disney movie "Inside Out" so we have tried to correlate the concepts to understand better. We will continue to learn skills and techniques to help regulate ourselves. Helping your child to identify what zone they are in can be the first step for them to be able to think of how they may get themselves back into the "green" or feeling good again. Here is a photo to help classify the zones.
