Also this Friday we will be having our annual Stampede breakfast. Hopefully the weather will be as good as it was this past weekend! Please wear your best western duds and join us first thing in the morning for pancakes on the back compound. I believe it starts around 8:00 so you can drop your child off at the grade two doors and then meet us around the back of the school.
Students have worked hard this week to finish typing up their Arctic animal stories and have also written riddles about their animal using juicy, descriptive adjectives about the animal adaptations and interesting facts. Tomorrow they will finish these up by typing them on the laptops and adding an illustration of the animal.
Some other exciting spring news in our classroom is that we are growing butterflies!! Students got a peek at the caterpillars on Friday and will do some observations of the changes happening for these little guys for the next week or so. We plan to sketch the changes as they happen and will hopefully witness metamorphosis in action! To celebrate this experience we started an art project using a technique called Pointillism (a combination of different coloured dots to create a picture) like this ladybug. Students could choose from a caterpillar or a butterfly and used Q-tips to design their critter.
